The St. James's Place (SJP) Wealth Management Group is one of the UK's leading wealth management organisations. With more than 300,000 clients and over £29 billion funds under management, SJP offers a wide range of wealth management services to businesses and individuals.
SJP had been using a SunSystems financial management system for 17 years but identified the need to replace it with a more flexible, cost-effective alternative that would support the growing business and was a better fit with its IT infrastructure.

Smooth implementation
To minimise the business impact of the transition to a new system, SJP needed to transfer all the existing data from the previous 17 years. Kypera extracted the historic transactional data from SunSystems, converted it and imported it into Kypera Financials. This included changing all the account and supplier codes and cost centres while dealing with all anomalies in data. Kypera Financials has built-in data integrity and validity checks to ensure compliance. The initial set up and conversion process took just 12 weeks and meant that the powerful reporting capabilities of Kypera Financials could be applied to all the historic data.
Key benefits
SJP has found that user productivity is better, with much easier interrogation of all the accounting records. Kypera XLR, a Microsoft Excel add-in, has been particularly helpful. It is used to produce management accounts by integrating data directly into Microsoft Excel and enables users to drill down into the accounting records and transactions.
SJP is now able to capture additional information for analysis and reporting by utilising the analysis codes and sort codes. Users can now enquire and report on any data that is held within the SQL database, providing much greater flexibility.
