Magna Housing Group is a not for profit organisation consisting of Magna Housing Association, Magna West Somerset Housing Association and Magna Careline. It is one of the largest social housing providers in the South West of England, managing over 8,000 homes with 10,000 tenants, and an annual turnover of over £30million. Magna had been battling with a finance system that was not moving with the times and facing ever increasing running costs, so they looked for an alternative solution.


Efficiency savings

During the selection process, David Block, Magna Group’s IT Manager described Kypera as: “A friendly, easy to work with company that offered an attractive solution which ticked all the boxes.” He added: “When we implemented the system, I believed it to be a future-proof system which we could build on and develop, whilst at the same time delivering an efficient and effective financial package to Magna Housing Group. I am pleased to say that with hindsight, this is totally correct. It has certainly delivered efficiency savings, especially the electronic ordering and invoicing process. It is more accurate with faster processing speeds than our previous system, saving staff time.

Greater control over expenditure

There are lots of analysis codes available and we use some of these against the cost of repairs. For example, we can see exactly what the materials costs are on a specific job. This greater visibility gives us more control over expenditure."

Moving to paperless payments

Magna is at the forefront of exploring the greater potential of Kypera systems. Val added: "We don’t let the Kypera system stand still and as any system is a big investment, we want to get the best out of it. It is a big plus to be able to work so closely with a supplier and the guys at Kypera are great to work with."

"We have taken the first step towards a paperless payment system with Kypera. We plan to go live later in 2011 with the AUDDIS electronic payment system instead of the standard direct debit system. We will be using Kypera to send the files directly to the bank, saving us a lot of time."
